Sydney’s Rose Seidler 50s Fair

THE SHERBET BIRDIE PHOTO BOOTH IN SYDNEY!?
Yes that’s right, Sherbet Birdie’s coming to Sydney this Sunday to celebrate all things fabulous from the 1950s with you at the simply delightful Rose Seidler 50s Fair!

“But how will you be celebrating Miss Sherbet?” Well, we’ll tell you how, by setting up our photo booth and photographing your pretty portrait for just $10 a photograph! Come dressed to the nines or rely on our delicious collection of props and accessories and get snap happy with Miss Sherbet.

Each photograph is mounted on a vintage photo card, hand made from German etching paper and features embossed details at the bottom, a quaint ink-stamped print on the reverse, and your beautiful portrait on the front, of course. Furthermore, whatever you spend on our vintage photo cards can be redeemed on a Sherbet Birdie photo shoot. As we are opening our Sherbet Birdie Sydney studio in February 2011, the timing couldn’t be better!

WHERE, WHEN AND HOW MISS SHERBET!?
The Rose Seidler 50s Fair is a veritable wonderland of everything authentically 1950s for the absolute enthusiast and is held at Rose Seidler House, located at 71 Clissold Road, Wahroonga.
Gates opens at 10.00am and tickets are available at the gates.

For more information head to the 50's Fair myspace page, or the Historic Houses Trust site.

Come on over and say hi at the fair!

MX Newspaper meets Scarlet Scr'Apple meets Sherbet Birdie

As many of our followers would no doubt already know, over the weekend we held a whirlwind competition to win a complimentary pin-up Sherbet Birdie photo shoot and the lucky winner who best described what she loved most about Sherbet Birdie was the ever so charming Melanie Scarlet Scr'Apple Myers (what a fabulous name right!?).

Our gorgeous photo shoot with Ms Scr'Apple will be appearing in this afternoon's MX Newspaper but for those who are simply busting to see the results we decided we'd upload a little preview. Be sure to pick up MX however to see all of the picies from the day!

There are many more sweet-as-apple-pie results to come, but for now take a bite out of this with a little before and after preview too.
xx!

p.s. For all the gals that entered our competition we are offering a $110 discount on a Sherbet Birdie photo shoot (including ALL of our trimmings for which we are famous) to say a mighty big thank you for taking the time to type such thoughtful messages. See all the messages here:

I can hear collective cooing from all the world's domestic goddesses when I look at these images. We Sherbet Birdie gals all agree that with our help Natalie cooked up wonderful ideas for her photo shoot, whipped up fluffy gorgeous costumes, and iced the sweet bejesus out of the final looks.

Well done on a fabulous shoot Natalie. Hands up goddesses who wants to be next!

Couples Shoots Launched

Okay, so way back in April I posted some images of the 1940's Dior inspired waist cincher that we ordered in anticipation of a our couples photo shoot with the divine Jess and Jason who wanted to replicate some Mad Men scenes Don and Betty Draper style.

... Those Mad Men fans out there know what we're taking about ,)

Last Monday was the photo shoot date and with the wardrobe absolutely busting at the seams with delicious brand spanking new costumes for the occasion, Jess and Jason walked into a 1950's wonderland.

We photographed picnic scenes, kitchen scenes and evening scenes and I am so pleased that Jess and Jason have given us approval to publish two of the scenes below.

So thus begins our couples photo shoots so pop onto our website to see the prices and packages offered for couples and family shoots: www.sherbetbirdie.com/prices_packages

Mad Hatter's Tea Party

Who doesn't love a bit of Tim Burton style? Well a recent client of ours Shannon is a big fan and wanted to create a photo shoot with Sherbet Birdie's help that mimicked Mr Burton's aesthetic with yet an even darker tone. "EXCITING!" we thought and got straight to it.
After a couple of attempts drawing the background we decided that creating a diorama would have the best results. We searched the local nursery, art shops, and miniatures toy store then set aside a weekend for diorama bliss.
Below is photograph of the diorama in progress, and the final results with Shannon making a fabulous Johnny Depp inspired Mad Hatter.
Thank you Shannon, 'twas too much fun!

Ain't For The Faint Hearted

I am so excited I'm having heart palpitations...
We just placed another costume order with What Katie Did (our London based lingerie suppliers) and I'm eagerly awaiting the following items:

The Glamour Merry Widow:
The Merry Widow is quintessential mid-50s shapewear. Unlike a corselette, which focuses on the hips and derriere, a Merry Widow works its magic on the upper torso; tightening, smoothing and uplifting.
It's essentially a low-backed strapless bra combined with a strict waist cincher; and the result is the perfect foundation for wearing under the tight-bodiced, full-skirted gowns that were extremely fashionable in the 1950s and early 60s.
If you've ever admired Mad Men's Betty Draper in her strapless evening frocks, this is for you!
– We will be using this beautiful piece in an upcoming Betty Page shoot. Joy!

Baby Corset:
Our newest underbust style, Baby, is a little 7 inch-deep waist cincher designed to be worn under clothes. It's directly inspired by Christian Dior's Spring/Summer 1947 collection, which went down in fashion history as the 'New Look'. It was all about large busts, tiny waists and full hips, and his mannequins were all tightly laced into boned waist-nippers to achieve that incredibly dramatic silhouette.
– We are using this corset under a fabulous late 50's dress to encourage a classic hourglass shape in an upcoming Mad Men inspired couples photo shoot.

Take a load off ladies and remind yourself – and him – that within your motherly exterior lies a minxy goddess busting to be unleashed. And where better to unleash that domestic goddess than the Sherbet Birdie studio, especially with our Mother's Day special edition package.
