Ain't For The Faint Hearted

I am so excited I'm having heart palpitations...
We just placed another costume order with What Katie Did (our London based lingerie suppliers) and I'm eagerly awaiting the following items:

The Glamour Merry Widow:
The Merry Widow is quintessential mid-50s shapewear. Unlike a corselette, which focuses on the hips and derriere, a Merry Widow works its magic on the upper torso; tightening, smoothing and uplifting.
It's essentially a low-backed strapless bra combined with a strict waist cincher; and the result is the perfect foundation for wearing under the tight-bodiced, full-skirted gowns that were extremely fashionable in the 1950s and early 60s.
If you've ever admired Mad Men's Betty Draper in her strapless evening frocks, this is for you!
– We will be using this beautiful piece in an upcoming Betty Page shoot. Joy!

Baby Corset:
Our newest underbust style, Baby, is a little 7 inch-deep waist cincher designed to be worn under clothes. It's directly inspired by Christian Dior's Spring/Summer 1947 collection, which went down in fashion history as the 'New Look'. It was all about large busts, tiny waists and full hips, and his mannequins were all tightly laced into boned waist-nippers to achieve that incredibly dramatic silhouette.
– We are using this corset under a fabulous late 50's dress to encourage a classic hourglass shape in an upcoming Mad Men inspired couples photo shoot.

You're Not Just A Mother-'s Day

Yes ladies and gents you all know it. Motherhood is completely and utterly exhausting *cough-splutter* I mean rewarding.
Take a load off ladies and remind yourself – and him – that within your motherly exterior lies a minxy goddess busting to be unleashed. And where better to unleash that domestic goddess than the Sherbet Birdie studio, especially with our Mother's Day special edition package.

Check our website www.sherbetbirdie.com/prices_packages for more information on our Mother's Day deal, and see how past birdies have had fun with a domestic goddess theme below.

New(ish) Backgrounds

I promised it, and now I've finally delivered it!
After our big portfolio update on our website www.sherbetbirdie.com/portfolio I am uploading a few extra peeks at some of our new backgrounds.
We are ALWAYS updating our background library because clients always approach us with new ideas... The latest, and my I say, MOST RIDICULOUSLY EXCITING background request is for a Mad Men-style 1960's kitchen scene.
Come on now, isn't that the BEST!?
I will keep you posted on our latest 1960's couple kitchen photoshoot, but for now I'd like you to delight in the below updated backgrounds.
Mwah!

1950's B-Grade Movie Posters

Okay, I admit it, I have a pretty fun job.
Shopping for costumes, making costumes, playing dress-ups, baking cupcakes for high tea, serving tea out of beautiful tea sets, gossiping and giggling with clients and the Sherbet Birdie team, hair and makeup, bows, bubbles yada-yada-yada.
It's all a LOT of fun.
Then, just when you think my job's the funnest and how could it possibly be funner two clients walk through the doors and ask to do a 1950's b-grade movie poster inspired photoshoot.

I'm in heaven I thought.

I have only laughed that hard in another shoot and that was when we did the pillow fight shoot.
This was truly the raddest (yes folks, I said raddest, but it paints a good picture don't you think?).

Roz and Adrian and I spent some time sourcing references for our posters and when we had a plan of attack we forged forward and had a spectacular day. The shoot was a hoot and we were all in stitches for most of it. Melodramatic poses bring out the comedian in all of us I've learnt.

Below are two of the three posters we created, the third is for Roz's and Adrians eyes only. Sorry folks ,)

Happy Birthday Mandy

We were all recently charmed by a spectacular client Mandy who was marking her 50th birthday with a very special Sherbet Birdie photoshoot. Mandy insisted she wasn't a photogenic gal and that she had never seen a good photo of herself. Well Mandy we simply don't believe that! These photos were beautiful, and yes Mandy very humbly ate her words when she saw the proof and realised how good a photo she actually takes.

Mandy was interested in two themes. The first a boudoir theme with a beautiful new pleated gown that we made especially for the occasion – after all it was her 50th birthday, and the second a very playful cowgal. Both themes equally full of hutzpah! Here are just a couple to tease!

Well done Mandy

Holidays!

After a very big Chrissy rush for Sherbet Birdie photoshoots we are all taking a well-earned break. I chose Byron as my freedom destination, and as my luck would have it I have so far seen nothing but rain. So much for being cleansed of Chrissy madness by the ocean.

The good news is that I now have a chance to catch up on all my overdue posts! So I'm sitting here sipping a red and scratching update blog off my to-do list.

It's been quite some time since our last Veronicas Vs Streamer Bendy post and I did promise to upload the results of that photoshoot, but it's just going to take a little longer. Sorry Erinn and Jess!

Over the Chrissy craziness we had some very innovative photoshoot requests which means we have a stack of brand new backgrounds for future shoots (which means more fun for all our new clients). We more than doubled our previous background library and I have selected a few of my favourites to show off!

The first is of our cherished client Mel, incidentally Mel is also our client who sent us the whopping bunch of flowers posted further down on this page. Mel purchased a 15 month calendar. Yes folks, 15 months – why not hey! Below are a couple of my favs.

Darling Careena also had adorable ideas and did a spectacular job! Check out this homage to Mr Gil Elvgrin...

I'll be getting some more approvals to load more backgrounds in the new year so keep checking by.

The Veronicas Vs Streamer Bendy

Yes my friends 'twas the pillow fight to end all pillow fights. Two pin-up princesses, two gigantic pillows, a couple of black eyes, two pair of super cute knickers, and a sh*te load of feathers.

The match had it all; choking, slapping, ninja fly-kicking, and some awe-inspiring headbutting*

Jess from The Veronicas and Erinn from Streamer Bendy spent the day in the studio and created some classic Sherbet Birdie moments. The results will be posted in the next few weeks, but in the meantime here are some shots of me and the girls. I couldn't resist the temptation of a pillow fight. Having grown up with two sisters myself I figured I'd come out on top.. And yes victory was all mine** as I sent Erinn and Jess cowering to the corner of the studio*** whimpering and thumb sucking****

xx
Good times

* Totally lied about the headbutt.
** I didn't win.
*** Lied again.
**** More lies.
